Today it’s all the baby boys’. So many super-stylish bargains out there, it was hard to narrow it down to our favourites. A good tip for sale shopping for babies (as they grow SO fast!!) is to plan ahead and size-up. Buy some cute things to put away (‘buy now, stash for later’ as like to call it at Little Spree) and whip out in a few month’s time. It’s always such a lovely thing to re-discover them (and feel super-smug about your organisational skills combined with your sales savvy!). One little tip though: make a note in your diary of when you think they might fit – I occasionally would forget my ‘stash’ altogether, only to discover it months after when they didn’t fit, this time because they were too small!! I did have two babies though, so cut me some slack… SC).
We’re also loving this Louis Louise tee; this Kidscase tee; these Louis Louise bloomers; this Kidscase all-in-one; this Imps & Elfs cardigan; this Babe & Tess onesie; these Emile et Ida trousers; and this; this; and this, all from Gap.
Sarah & Nicky xx
ps: don’t disregard the Gap grey bodysuit as a bit of a ‘blah’ sale pick. These bodsuits are so useful for babies. They literally keep your little one’s look ‘together’, and are great for layering. And a grey one is always a stylish choice for baby boys (or girls of course).
1. Babe & Tess Fine Stripes Onesie (3-24 months), £40.50 2. Maileg Squirrel, from Elias & Grace, £28.00 3. Louis Louise Baby Slippers, from Elias & Grace (6-12 months), £38.00
It’s hard to believe that Bailey was ever small enough to fit in to an outfit this size, but when he was, this is how I liked to dress him: comfortable, simple, stylish, done (not something I always achieved I might add!). If there’s a cooler baby slipper out there I’ve yet to find it – I adore these Louis Louise ones. In fact Sarah and I are pretty much obsessed with this brand at the moment. For those with the breaking strain of a kit-kat for well priced, cool kids clothes (i.e. us) do not look up this brand!
1. Marks & Spencer 2 Piece Cotton Body & Dungarees Set, £18.00 2. Minnetonka Fringed Baby Booties, £35.00
“Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were – Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter”. And one day Marks and Spencer decided that Peter Rabbit would make a very cute print for a baby bodysuit, especially when worn with soft cotton dungarees and adorable booties. The end.
One of my favourite (and yours too I’ve noticed!) kids’ labels, Mini Boden are kindly giving away all ten of these gorgeous baby pieces (personally chosen by me) to two lucky Little Spree readers. Five pieces for baby girls, and five pieces for baby boys. Each item comes in ages 0-3 years (so not just for babies). To enter, all you need to do is to answer one simple question, and follow Little Spree on Twitter (little spree) and Instagram (littlespree @littlespree) if you don’t already. The question is: what is Tabitha and Marlow’s collective nickname? Please send your answer to: firstname.lastname@example.org, stating ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ to specify which of the two prizes you would like to win, and the age of your baby or size you which to be sent (you can choose to size up and ‘stash for later’ if you prefer – it’s totally up to you). Two winners will be selected at random, and I will announce them on Thursday 19th June (so you have plenty of time). Boden will then send the five items directly to the two winners. One of them might just be you! Good luck!
La Redoute Sleeveless Polka Dot Print Romper (1 month-2 years) £13.00 SHOP NOW This super-cute romper may look a little Summery, but with a little bit of layering it could be totally adorable right now (and frankly, why wait?). Just add a cosy cashmere cardigan, some soft knitted tights, a gorgeous bow (you’ve got to have a bow right?), and you have yourself one very stylish baby. Then come Summer (if it still fits, which it should if you size up enough now), you can show off the pretty crochet detail on the sleeves (which I love). I squeezed Tabs into rompers like this for as long as I possibly could, I just loved her in them so much. Sadly no more. But how cute is this Bambo frilled bodysuit? And totally practical too – no extra fabric to ride up when your little one is on the move…
ps: just had a bit of a ‘mini spree’ in Zara this morning. I bought these boots, and this blouse for Tabs (plus one in age 13-14 for me – yep, another white blouse, but it is so pretty…); and this sweatshirt and these sandals for Marlow. Love them all.
Cocoon Pack Of 5 Baby Girl’s Long- Sleeved Bodysuits (0-3 years)
Now I’m not normally a fan of baby clothes with writing/slogans emblazoned across the front, but somehow, because these words are in French, I happen to think they are adorable! I also love all the slightly ‘off’ colours (normally when I buy a pack of anything, there are at least two that I don’t like for whatever reason, but with this particular pack, I love them all…). These are 100% cotton too, so fantastic value. They would make a sweet baby gift too. £19.00 laredoute.co.uk
ps: I always like baby bodysuits with the cutaway shoulders (like these), so they’re easy to get on and off for those quick, easy changes…
pps: I also love these Pointelle ones from Mini Boden.
John Lewis Baby Squirrel Bodysuits (0-18 months)
It’s never too early to introduce your baby daughter to the delights of the Peter Pan collar. How sweet are these baby bodysuits? Loving the cute squirrel print (who knew rodents could be so chic?), and this lovely old-fashioned shade of lilac for the plain option. And such a great buy for two super-stylish, 100% cotton bodysuits. They would make a lovely (and inexpensive) gift too. £12.00 johnlewis.com
Mini Boden 5 Pack Of Bodies (0-24 months)
My sister emailed me a picture of my one year old nephew the other day, and he was wearing one of these (the orange striped one if you’re interested) under a pair of dungarees, and it reminded how great they are. I used to regularly buy them for Tabarlow when they were babies, and I loved how versatile (great with jeans, dungarees, layered under dresses…), practical, and stylish they were (and still are). And not to mention great value. I love the colours in this particular set. Perfect for this kind of weather, because they are so easy to layer. And my ever-growing collection of Mini Boden little cotton drawstring bags is testement to just how much I loved them! I am currently using a strawberry printed one for Tabitha’s ballet stuff (it’s the perfect size). £24.00 (was £30.00) Boden.co.uk
Alice à Paris Knitted Baby All-In-One (3-6 months) Alice a Paris is still quite a new discovery for me. Gorgeous, simple, French clothes for babies and toddlers at really great prices. I love that they only have quite a small selection of styles, but they all come in various colours and fabrics. Perfect. How chic is this knitted all-in-one? Love the ties at the side. The perfect ‘don’t know what I’m/they’re having’ pre-baby purchase/gift. £33.00 aliceaparis.com
Percy & Nell Personalised All-In-One (0-12 months)
Oh my gosh, how cute are these? I love anything personalised (particularly gifts), and these are practical too. I have to say, I particularly love the grey stripes (and there’s nothing to stop you ordering that one for a girl). The initial is covered in sweet little stars. They are made form lovely cotton (100%), and come beautifully gift wrapped too. You can only have up to nine letters though, so bad luck any Maximilian’s out there – one of these will not be winging it’s way to you any time soon I’m afraid… £19.00 percyandnell.com
Stella McCartney Kids Weekend Bodies (1-24 months)
How sweet are these? Love the cute, simple design and the fact they are made from 100% organic cotton (very Stella!). Perfect for Summer sleepwear or layering for every day. Would make a lovely baby present too. Super-chic. £31.00 stellamccartney.co.uk
Boden 5 Pack Bodies (0-24 months)
Boden do the best bodysuits. Tabarlow wore them (different prints, but equally cute) when they were babies, and I loved them in them. Generally I like plain white ones to wear in Winter under things, but these are great for the Summer to sleep in, or as t-shirts during the day. The rabbit print is completely adorable, and as you know, I always love a stripe! They wash brilliantly and are made from lovely cotton (always very important to me). And they come in a cute little matching drawstring bag (I still use mine now for keeping snacks in when we’re out!). They would make a great present too. £35.00 boden.co.uk
If you don’t already know this adorable website, you definitely need to take a look. They have the most beautifully curated collection of imaginative play clothes with everyday wearable luxury. Their collections cleverly (and beautifully) obscure the line between clothing and costume – encouraging children to play and wear pieces in any way they like for free and exciting creative expression. Perfect for the fast-approaching festive season.
